About LTEEC

Lake Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition (LTEEC) is sponsored by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the University of California Cooperative Extension.  The goal of LTEEC is to assist many different groups and educational organizations in working together to educate the public about how to prevent pollution of Lake Tahoe.

LTEEC is comprised of eight "working groups." Each working group is led by one or two individuals with a passion for the group's task.  The working group structure was approved at the first Steering Committee meeting of LTEEC on January 20, 2000. The participants agreed that too many separate organizations are trying to reach out to educate the public with very little coordination. The Coalition acts as an umbrella organization whose purpose is to improve overall effectiveness of environmental education of all types at Lake Tahoe.
