Third Annual Incline Creek Watershed Snow Survey
Location: Incline Creek Watershed
We would like to invite you to participate in the Third Annual Incline Creek Watershed Snow Survey on Saturday, March 27. We are looking for volunteers who would like to spend the entire day outdoors skiing or snowshoeing within the upper Incline Creek watershed at Lake Tahoe. You would be part of a small group measuring snow density and depth at several locations across the watershed. The goal of this volunteer effort is to establish a long-term dataset on how vegetation cover, aspect, and elevation effect the quantity of water held in the snowpack. If weather does not cooperate, the alternate day for the snow survey is Saturday April 3.
We will have at least one training session, tentatively scheduled for 12:30 on Monday March 22. The training session will provide you with the information and skills necessary to conduct the snow survey.
If you'd like to volunteer or have any questions, please email Rick Susfalk at rbs@dri.edu, or call (775)673-7453.
