Tahoe Research Symposium
Location: CalNeva Resort, North Stateline, Lake Tahoe
Please mark your calendars for the "Research as a Tool in Tahoe Basin Issues - 2nd Biennial Conference on Tahoe Environmental Concerns," May 17-19, 2004, at the Cal-Neva Resort, Spa & Casino. The purpose of this three-day symposium is to provide all groups who work on Tahoe Basin issues an opportunity to improve their understanding of what their colleagues are doing by bringing critical issues to the table for discussion. The format of this biennial conference will be technical presentations and posters. We will also be collecting summaries of ongoing research in the Basin for compilation in a central location for distribution to all interested parties. The final element of this symposium is to educate the interested public about ongoing research and the potential implications for environmental regulation and management in the Basin.
The symposium is being sponsored by, the Desert Research Insitute, Environmental Protection Agency, HDR Engineering, Inc., Lake Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, University of California, Davis, University of Nevada, Reno, U.S. Geological Survey and the Nevada Water Resources Association.
The "Call for Papers" is available. The symposium will consist of brief presentations describing work being done on the Basin. It is not necessary to have the final results of your work in hand to make a presentation as long as your project is of general interest. Papers and posters from both professionals and students will be accepted. The deadline for submission is February 28, 2004. Registration information will be distributed soon. Please contact Donna Bloom, NWRA, (775) 626-6389, or donnabloom@charter.net if you have questions.
