Location: Middle Truckee River Watershed
Truckee River Day is a fun-filled restoration day with activities for all ages. The 9th annual Truckee River Day will take place on October 17th, 2004. Projects this year are located all throughout the Middle Truckee River watershed and include many different types of activities such as planting seedlings, monitoring water quality, performing erosion control in sensitive areas, and constructing fences to protect resources. Activities begin at either 9:00 AM or 11:00 AM depending on whether you sign up for an all-day or half-day project. Check-in location will vary depending on the project, a Truckee River Day staff member will notify you with details once final project assignments have been made. Projects will wind down by about 3:00 PM at which time everyone is invited to return to Granite Flat campground located approximately one mile south of Truckee on Highway 89. Don’t miss the highlight of the end of the celebration, the Lahontan cutthroat trout release! There will be food and drink for sale at family-style prices and many interesting educational booths at Granite Flat as well. Pre-registration for Truckee River Day participation is required.
