Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) Teacher’s Interpretive Hike: Aquatic Habitat
Join interpreter Stewart McMorrow, Wildlife Biologist, California State Parks. The Teacher’s Interpretive Hike Series is an exciting opportunity for teachers to explore the local area with resource professionals and experts, focusing on specific aspects of our unique watershed. Teachers will gain ideas and information on how to interpret nature and science in the field with their students. Lesson plans, activities and a resources list will be provided for each hike and topic. Designed by teachers and resource professionals, this series will focus on ways for teachers to incorporate field studies with California content standards for math, science, language arts, English and social studies. District buy-back credit available.
Join us for an in-depth look at what lives in and around the water. We will explore the unique relationships between the plant, animal and aquatic communities living in the stream environment zone. You will learn how to monitor water quality and how to collect and study aquatic insects in the field with students.
