Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day 2004
Location: Tahoe Paradise Park (in Meyers)
Join the League to Save Lake Tahoe for the for the 7th Annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day volunteer forest rehabilitation and restoration event. Activities include tree thinning, brush removal, streamside erosion control work, trail building, and education opportunities. Mark the date and come out to volunteer and help clean up the forest, make some new friends, and learn about forest health, water quality and more.
Volunteers will work on a variety of projects to control erosion, reduce fire danger, and create a healthier forest. BBQ lunch will be provided. Registration is required for all volunteers. Please contact Catherine Parsons at 530-541-5388 or at Catherine@keeptahoeblue.org to sign up. This year’s Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day site, Tahoe Paradise Park, offers a variety of restoration opportunities. Projects will include removing hazardous fuels from a forested area, spreading mulch on an eroding bike path, installing erosion control features on a trail, and stabilizing a stream bank of the Upper Truckee River by planting willow waddles. Volunteers will be divided into groups and will have the opportunity to participate in a number of these restoration projects.
In addition, volunteers will learn about a variety of topics related to the Tahoe environment from local experts. And best of all, the League will host a free BBQ and raffle at the end of the day! All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. If you’re unable to volunteer, but would like to learn more about the League and meet some of our staff, please join us for the BBQ starting at 12:00. A $5 donation for non-volunteers would be appreciated. Contact Catherine at 530-541-5388 for directions and details.
